Hi all
I'm new to this forum, I've been reloading for some time now but I've got about a thousand large pistol primers left from when they were legal, can they be used in .243 rifle case's?

They will be the same size as large rifle primers so will fit, but they are not intended to take the same pressure as a rifle cartridge will generate so it is unwise to use them for rifle loads.
I take it that when you say from when they were legal what you meant was from when pistols could be possessed by law abiding shooters.

The pistol primers are thinner copper metal cups and could burst with the pressures generated by the 243

They work fine in pistol calibre carbines so they do have value.
