We're pondering another project (this'll be the one after the project after the project after next): can you oomans recommend for us a nice big hefty 6.5 mm bullet (or boolit) suitable for subsonic use from a 22 inch barrel ?

I only have a normal weight boolit mould - not a light weight.
Still you could load it down.

Er, in badgerese, hefty means heavy, not lightweight. Do we look like a lightweight sort of kreecher?

For subsonic use I use a 120 gn boolit in he 6.5, why the need for a heavy one? What application do you want it for?

Log on to
www.midsouthshooterssupply.com they sell a 170gn 6.5 bullet mould made by Lee.
I use this bullet for my Carcano loads. I have 2 moulds, one cut down to produce 150gn bullets, they both cast at .270

You need to be very careful when looking at this boolit, Oldfeller designed particularly for the long worn throats of miltary Swedes and other such rifles, It has a wide meplat and and a short ogive so doesn't fit well into tighter spec chambers. I have some of original Oldfeller GB designs which are much better than the changed Lee limited run offering, In fact I believe Grant has one as well.
That is why we need more information about the rifle and application, there are many boolit designs but for them to work they need to fit the rifle and the application so with only a part of a question you will only get part answers.

Yes, I have a Lee mould for my Carcano (171gn, .268 boolit) however I cannot get them to work at the moment :cool2: It shoots great with ordinary 6.5mm FMJ but cast boolits for the Carcano seems beyond my current level of skill.
