My shotgun is currently licensed (on FAC) for clays, skeet and vermin control. This is effectively saying that I can't pattern it, right? ... since I'm not licensed for 'target'?...

How can you compete seriously and not be able to pattern it?

Put the clay in the middle of a target, shoot the the clay and then inspect the target (and pattern). ;)
