Buying from USA

This has probably been coveres before.
I am on holiday in the US later this year and want to buy a rifle scope 3x12x42. Are there any problems bringing it back to the UK apart from paying import tax

As long as it had a target retical and not a mill spec one it shouldn't be a problem

You can have any reticle you like, as long as the scope isn't primarily designed for Military use or has electronic image enhancement you're good to go.
And please don't pack it in your suitcase, the amount of abuse they can get is incredible!, stick it in your hand luggage/backpack much safer
