It would appear that my fake mod is well and trully stuck on to the barrel, I understand this is a reaction between two different metals.
can anyone suggest a way to remove it that will not damage either?

Whack a few rounds through them as they heat up and expand slightly. My Wildcat Predators tend to stick so after shooting I now loosen them enough to break contact with the barrel while still hot then when cooled off I can easily remove them.

get the kit ready to unscrew it with some force then immerse it in hot diesel/oil/anything else to penetrate the threads (not too thick) then once it's had a while to work get it out and apply all the force you have to split them (this is why you need to be set up ready)

Rubber oil filter wrenches worked for me when i had the same problem with a T8 moderator. They're cheap and you can use them for other jobs around the house too
