Fitting Hogue Grips to Taurus LBR

Afternoon all,
I bought some Houge grips for my Taurus LBR but I'm having a bit of trouble fitting them. Looks to me as though they won't go on, if this pin is in place:
Two questions:
1. Am I correct, or just having a brain-fart today and they will actually go on with the pin in place?
2. If it does need to come out, is it just a case of tapping it out with a hammer?
Thanks,
Jud

That pin needs to come out. I thought about trying to drift it out, but after a couple of brass hammer hammer blows, I went straight to the 16oz ball pein. That didn't shift it. I am no lover of the Taurus factory grips and don't intend fitting them again, so I took a hack saw to that pin...
Hogues went on a treat after that! LOL!

Thanks Sim G, just the info I needed.

Like you say, the factory grips aren't up to much, so I doubt I'd ever want to refit them. Looks like a hacksaw job it is then.
Cheers,
Jud

They certainly are, thanks again for the advice re the pin.

I reckon they're a fairly decent improvement over the standard grips, very happy with them:

They will certainly feel a lot better than the factory....
Did you not fancy something, well, a little fancier?

I did consider something a bit flashier, like this:
But the cost put me off, to be honest. Also, I have a mate who's into knife making and he said he wants to have a go at making some grips out of wood for it, so I'm going to see what he comes up with.
