I know it's probably easier just to ask Saddler or Pha. Phe. Jeff :lol: , but just in case it's helpful to others;
Is there anywhere in the North East you can buy Federal shotgun primers?
Also, with the Lee slug mold there are various recipes and one of the powders (the one that uses the least powder ) is listed as Hodgdon Universal. I've looked on Kranks website and they've got a Hodgdon Universal Clay powder, is that the same stuff?
No idea about the primers, I buy primed hulls from Siarm, works out about the same or cheaper!.
Hodgdon only repackage other manufacturers powders, "Clays" by ADI comes in 3 variations, Hodgdon sell the Universal version as "Universal - Clays" so yes the load data for "Universal" is for that powder.

Not sure on Federal Primers, possibly Hannams; will have to dig the catalogue out.
To date I have used Remington but will soon switch to Winchester as I bought a few thousand with my press.
EDIT: Hannams DO have Federal 209 primers. £74.50 per 1000

Mark, if my experience is anything to go by, don't bother with Universal, I found it very poor. Likewise, pe4king and hobbsey did not have success with HS6...
Accurate #5 on the other hand, I found really good.
PM incoming..
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?
Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

Average 1000 primer price from Kranks is £43!?
Might look into those pre-primed cases but as i get free cases from PSG matches my Scottish heritage is telling me not to! :lol: The reason i was after Federal (apart from those been the recommended primers) was that i've heard they feed the most reliably in the primer feeder for the Loadall II.
So Universal powder is rubbish then, bah! Back to the drawing board! I can tell this is going to be one of those things that 'makes' you buy every component under the sun and then a year down the line you find something that works but its cost you 10x what it would have just buying factory ammo! :roll: :lol:
