'Access All Areas' Condition
Is it possible to get a condition whereby you can use your firearms on "any HO approved and insured ranges in the UK?" - or are we usually just restricted to our 'home club' only?
Re: 'Access All Areas' Condition
My Fac says
" any home office approved range, while adequate financial insurance is in place"
" any home office approved range, while adequate financial insurance is in place"
Re: 'Access All Areas' Condition
[sigh]...
Just a had a variation fecked-off (including additions) for asking for the above.
I thought it was reasonable.

Re: 'Access All Areas' Condition
Mine says I can shoot anywhere for target shooting whilst a member of my target club on ranges suitable for that class of firearm with insurance.. Thumbs up to Kent on that one as I shoot all over the place :)
Re: 'Access All Areas' Condition
SevenSixTwo why don't you look in the H.O. guidance to police document to see what the normal recommended wording is. I can't remember exactly what it says on my certificate at the moment only that it mentions my home club and then other ranges for which adequate insurance provision is made. I would say however that as you are based in N.I. things may be slightly different.

My cert, Devon and Cornwall, says "firearms and ammunition shall be used for target shooting and only whilst a member of Duchy Shooting Assn on ranges suitable fot the safe use of that class of firearm and with adequte financial arrangements in place to meet any injury or damage claim"
Aother variation on a theme!!

It's not only reasonably, it's considered pretty much standard as far as I'm aware! i'd go back and challenge this as it seems unreasonably restrictive. I'm allowed to use the firearms on my certificate only while a member of the NRA (not a problem as I'm a life member) and on any range the competent authority has certified.SevenSixTwo wrote:Just a had a variation fecked-off (including additions) for asking for the above.I thought it was reasonable.
Good luck.

That's the same actual wording as on mine John though obviously a different club mentioned (standard condition).johngarnett wrote:My cert, Devon and Cornwall, says "firearms and ammunition shall be used for target shooting and only whilst a member of Duchy Shooting Assn on ranges suitable fot the safe use of that class of firearm and with adequte financial arrangements in place to meet any injury or damage claim"

I still think that the problem with 762 is where he resides at the moment, licencing is slightly different there so conditions on certificates may well be more restrictive.

Mine is very similar from memory it mentions my club and any ranges deemed suitable with adequate financial arrangements.Chapuis wrote:That's the same actual wording as on mine John though obviously a different club mentioned (standard condition).johngarnett wrote:My cert, Devon and Cornwall, says "firearms and ammunition shall be used for target shooting and only whilst a member of Duchy Shooting Assn on ranges suitable fot the safe use of that class of firearm and with adequte financial arrangements in place to meet any injury or damage claim"

I find it interesting since it doesn't say who deems the range suitable, or what a range is. All in all yet another condition that is just about un enforceable.
