Hi guys, I'm after a section1 benelli m2 with a 24" barrel

There are none around and I'm getting fed up of waiting.

I'm thinking about buying a used 28" section 2 gun and having the barrel chopped and the crimp knocked out.

Has any body done this? How does chopping work with the raised rib on the gun.

I know it's gunna cost a bit of cash but I'm getting so sick of having to order and wait 6 months for any shooting stuff I want.

I'm wanting to do something similar with my S1 Supernova at the moment! I want it chopped to 24". It's expensive though... looking at £200-£300 for a barrel chop, threaded for chokes and re-proofed

There's one for sale on GT (with a slug barrel) at the moment.

Personally, after shooting PSG with several barrel lengths, I'd say 26" is probably optimum. Bringing your extended mag tube out to the full length of the barrel should give you a 10+1 configuration.

You're limiting to about 8 or 9 + 1 with a 24" barrel unless you want the tube sticking out beyond the barrel - and if you already the length and weight there, there's no benefit in the shorter barrel.

I take it that you're after a ribbed barrel?

Any links, I can't seem to find it and I thought slug barrels were S5 over here?

I'm not to fussed about a ribbed barrel but they all seem to have it

SLUG barrel or RIFLED barrel?

The former normally relates to a std smooth-bore barrel, but one so designed that the bore constriction is optimal for use with slugs, eg. Ithaca 37
The latter - yes, S.5 IF on a pump or semi... ARE ok on other shotguns but they then fall under S.1 rules - so a 12-bore RIFLE
(Which I also suppose woulod need to meet the 24/12 rule....oooh, I has a cunning plan!!)

As Saddler says, it's not a rifled barrel (that'd be S5) - it just has open sights, a configuration intended more for slug than shot.

Problems with those guns is they are fixed mags so a Extension tube can't be used in them.

Take care if considering DiY barrel jobs, there was a case in Bedford a while ago where someone was done for just processing the sawn off barrel end of a s/s shotgun. fair to say they were probably looking for an excuse to do him..

Ovenpaa, can you do shotgun barrel shortening and re-threading?
