Could someone help me out. l have just loaded some 45/70s for my Sharps using 29.5gr of 2400 powder. This powder is a fine ball powder so it looks lost in the case. Should l be using wads to keep the powder at the bottom of the case. I made 20 just in case they have to be pulled. The bullet is a 323gr RNL with gas check. l usually use Rel7 at about 36 -38 grs which have never been a problem. While lm here if Dromia reads this do you supply 45 gas checks and 44/40 lead bullets [200 gr].

Just checked the Hodgdon reloading data centre and it doesn't list 2400 powder for the 45-70 (Trapdoor loads) - sorry can't help - I use trailboss if I want something really light in my 45-70.

I wouldn't use a wad or filler with 2400 it is a fast rifle, slow pistol powder which isn't really position sensitive.

I don't like using wads to hold the powder in place much preferring fillers but with the low loading density of this load I wouldn't use either.

I sell gas 45 gas checks check out my website, I just sell the commercial boolits not my own ones.
