Random Chap in a Shop, with Boomstick
Hi, all.
An odd thing occurred last weekend that I thought I'd share. I was in a modelling/arts 'n' crafty-type shop with the girlfriend, and while I was talking to the guy serving me at the counter, another customer walked in, but what clocked my eye was that he had a very battered gunslip slung over his person, and the muzzle of something cold clearly be seen through the worn 'slip.
Now, is it my British/PC, 'guns are bad' programming, or is that not okay? I kinda wanted to say something, but I as daft as it sounded, I didn't want to cause a scene; I had no idea how he guy would take it, and there were other people in the store, non-shooty types, so God know how they'd react.
All I could think was, 'you're not helping our image, mate.'

But if no one else saw/noticed/acknowledged what was over the blokes shoulder, how could he not have been helping our image?
The indoor range I use is about a mile from where I live. Regularly I'll walk it with a slip or two. To a certain degree the more people do notice it, perhaps the better.
What we do is perfectly normal and perfectly legal.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Oh, yeah. Walking to and from the range(s); no issues, Hell, even on the train is fine, however, walking around town and entering shops with a gunslip on, and with the muzzle poking through? That doesn't strike me as a good idea. The public all ready see us as pre-murdering, gun tottin' so and sos. Last thing we need is for a 'think of the children' mother to ring the police and report 'there's a man in a shop with a gun.'

But being in a shop, going about his lawful business harms how? You were in a modelling shop, peraps he was after some Umbro black paint for his fore sight before heading to the range or the field? Didn't want to leave his gun unattended in the car. Craft type shop? Perhaps material with which to fix his tired gunslip?
Can you see where I'm coming from? He was doing nothing wrong. I think you're being a little over sensitive.

Dining in Portugal a few months back we saw two soldiers on sentry duty at a military base opposite look at their watches, stroll across to the restaurant we were in, take a seat, prop their rifles in the corner and have a pretty substantial lunch, complete with a glass of wine, afore trotting back to duty.

Yeah, if they're orange, at least 9 metres long, having a capacity of 7 or less caps and they don't vent forwards and the purchaser is over 55 and a member of the local "Cowboys and Indians" skirmish club.

We used to have a very nice looking Colt Police Patrol cap gun, and fed it "Brock's" (of course) Super caps that came in a tiny green cardboard box. 100 shots per roll...

Salut ,
Good God Tower !!
You have been abducted by some kind of Lib-Dem Media Alien ?
Admit it ... Been brainwashed haven't you ??
Now ...
Relax ...
Breathe slowly ...
Look at those photos...
Listen to my voice ...
Listen to your inner voice...
Look at those photos again...
Let the inner peace come to you ...
Your eyes start to feel heavy...
Repeat after me ...
" This is what a normal country look like "
