New Ammunition Safe

Hi all,

As I've found myself doing more reloading I have setup a reloading bench in my (brick built) workshop. Workshop is separate from the house but within the confines of the drive / gates garden walls etc.

The workshop is very secure with steel doors, brick walls, steel plated roof, alarm etc (the only way you are getting in is with either a JCB or a Stihl saw).

Should I be asking my FEO to approve having an ammunition safe in there or am I good to go?

Thanks in advance,

Mick.

My FEO told me any safe should be in an 'occupied building'. I've got a garage with basically the same security, contained within my land with no public access, but was told it wasn't suitable to house my gun or ammo safes.

Best bet is to speak to your FEO - he'll tell you what he's comfortable with.

I would ask for my FLO's advice. FAC conditions include ammo. A separate garage/workshop may cause a prob.
I used a B&Q 'large' safe for my ammo.
Good luck

Get advice from your FEO, it will save you a world of hassle.

I have a garage tied to the house with a standard garage door.

FEO approved my ammo safe in there, mind you it's 4" thick, weighs 500kg and bolted to the floor!

At my last place, my FEO approved a safe in out 'granny flat', this was a separate building (a 18th century barn), within there there was a store room made from breeze blocks which contained a gun safe with S/G in there. He had no problem with the fact that a separate building, bar the lack of an alarm, it was as secure as the house though.
