After a very fruitful shopping trip to the US and amongst (many) other things I now own a RCBS chronograph.

My next club shoot is on Short Siberia. Are there any rules/do's and don'ts for for using a chronograph at Bisley? I have seen then used there before (shooting from prone) but as ever I don't want to assume that this is ok.

Some things also learnt from the trip:

Virgin premium economy allows 2 bags in the hold - great if you take 1 small bag out, 2 back fully loaded.
Scopes - had no problems bringing them back in my hand luggage.
Ammunition/reloading supplies - were indeed in short supply (at Kittery Trading Post). This was put down to Homeland Security bulk buying. There was no .308 ammo and virtually no .30 bullets. SMK all sold out except for 190/210 grains.

Using a chrono, get there early and if you have any other shooters next to you check they are happy for you to use a chrono, this is more a common courtesy thing than anything else. Make sure it is correctly aligned and stable, having it blow over is the last thing you need. If you need to go forward to adjust once shooting has started wait until there is a significant lull and check with the other shooters.

Try not to shoot it!

Shooting your Chrony is an offense ,shooting someone else's is dangerous to one's health

One of my friends (who shall remain nameless) is an American rifleman of some note (Palma Team, lots of regional and national trophies, 450 club etc...) and has done this on no less than two occasions that I know of. Oops...

Chrony chronographs give up very quickly when you stuff a couple of 180 Hybrids through them at 3050fps.... This is why I like my Steinert, if I did shoot it I would know it was time to give up...

Maybe I'll let someone else take the first shots through it then. At least if they shoot it I can take the moral high ground! Given my recent groupings it'll be lucky if it doesn't get shot in the first 3.
