Handgun / Sect 5 dealers

Fancy a handgun, me. I've been around the bazaars here (NI) and not found much except CZ.75s, Glocks a-plenty (yawn) and a few beat up Sigs.

Does anyone know of UK Sect 5 dealers who can/will order from HK as I'm after a P2000 (or at least the price of one)?

While I'm here, one thing (among many) that frustrates me about the UK is that there seems little option to 'try before you buy'; even just handling. I'm going for a P2000 in .40cal purely on rave reviews on various forums but I've never actually fired one. I have fired P226, USP, USPc, BHP, 1911s etc but that can't be much of a 'guide' really.

Have you ever bought a firearm purely on spec or do you insist that you try it first?

Sorry, sore subject? ;)

Always try before you buy, handguns are no different. Some look great and are crud to fire and vice versa, at least it hasn't got a daft grip safety on it.

Para Ordnance double stack "1911 a like" is nice in the hand, as is HK USP compact in .45. Springfields also seem popular, and check out FN pistols too.

Any reason why .40cal, why not 45 or 9mm?

Sent you PM.

Notional, really. Have shot 9mm to death and just want something a 'little' more snappy/challenging (I'm trying hard to ignore the expense!) but not too powerful aka .45. I find 9mm a tad 'dull' and sluggish.

.45 is subsonic from what I've read whereas 9mm and .40 are supersonic (not that that'll have any bearing on plywood! ;) ). As I said it's just notional, based on reviews/forum concensus mainly from US LE folk. I'll likely just settle for 9mm anyway...

Cheers.

SevenSixTwo,

That used to be true but not so much these days. The speed of sound is 1080 ft/sec at sea level, .45 ACP can be loaded to +P+ with a 185 gr. bullet to muzzle velocities in excess of 1200 ft/sec. Not all .45 ACP loads are subsonic mate. Plus it packs a hell of a punch compared to the 9mm and .40 S&W rounds.

Blu

Try LanTac he's a S5 dealer and sells Glocks, he might be able to get HKs as he can get nearly everything else.

Hi SevenSixTwo,

I'll make some enquiries and see what I can come up with!

Kind regards,

Tom

Salut 7.62,

I bought my SP01 purely "on paper" & on recommandation . So far, it is one of my big time fav 9 mm.

Are you in a hurry ?
Select a dozen of hand guns you can think about , and send me a PM.

Not in a massive rush. I'm in no hurry to make a mistake anyway!

Thanks for the help/tips so far. :-)

If you want something different, then go with a revolver.
I have exclusive use of a 6" barrel SS Ruger GP100 when over the Pond & absolutely love it: 38spl loads for plinking & full house 357mag loads for distance work & when wandering in places where predators might be an issue.
It's a full underlug barrel & the weight makes it smooth & fast to shoot, with no nasty recoil.

2" groups @ 20yds with 158gr LSWC.
