Hello again all,

Does anyone know of a source of .452 cast heads with a crimp grove (i.e. intended for 45 Colt).
Various folks in the US do them, but I can only find .454 Colt heads in the UK.

Any pointers appreciated.

I think if you call them by the correct name it'd be a good start = BULLETS

As to the caliber, I use 45 Colt bullets, cast from an Ideal BULLET mold (they don't sell or make HEAD molds)
The mold code number is 454 424 - the newer Lyman made mold has the code 452 424

IF you were bothered by the 2 thou difference, you could always run the 454 dia bullets through a 452 sizer

What dia did your barrel slug at?

.451 and yes, I have fired .454 heads (and even some of these bullet things you mention  ) through it. Tad too much leading for my taste.

Know of any good sources?

As a user of the word boolit to describe cast and swaged boolits as opposed to jacketed I don't really think it is a technical term.

The word was invented by Ken Caldwell who set up the Cast Boolits forum after the demise of the old Shooters.com and Aimo forums.

Since then the word has found some currency amongst cast bullet aficionados, dodgyrog has even pinched the word for his commercial title, some others hate it and refuse to use it. It was never meant to be anything other than a lighthearted way of giving the new forum an identity, as I say I use the word to describe cast projectiles but am equally happy to have them called cast bullets as that is what they are however with the rapidity that language is evolving who knows perhaps it will find its way into the common lexicon but I won't be loosing sleep on it if it doesn't.

Bullets heads however is something I know nothing about, don't know what they are and I am therefore unwilling to contribute to threads on the subject.

Yes, LOTS of good sources, but only for bullets...so unable to assist with your search for "heads"
....have you tried asking a sailor?
