Estimated velocity for a .303 load please.

I'm trying to work up a .303 load to match the service load in terms of velocity; I know that this was 2440 fps. My problem is that I have difficulty in getting access to a chronograph because they cannot be used at Altcar. I'm loading a 174 SMK with 41 grains and 41.5 grains of N140 and firing out of an SMLE. Has anyone had any experience of this load and is able to give me an indication of its velocity?
TIA

I use 40.8gn in a no4 and its about 2450fps IIRC.
Shoots fine out to 900yds, not been any further!
On Lapua website 41.7 is top and should be 2566fps.
How come you cant use a chrono?

Tony,
Thanks that's useful guidance.
I think the chrono thing is something to do with putting any obstruction forward of the muzzle. It'll be an Army rule although I haven't checked specially; its just a given that everyone works to.

You could work it back from ballistic data if you can get accurate drop measurements at various ranges? It won't be 100% accurate but it's probably the best you'll do till you can get the loads across a chrono ?
