Has anyone used ProRep Walnut Sand as tumbling media?

They seem to make two grades - Walnut Grit (which looks coarser) and the finer Walnut sand. I'm guessing that the sand will be better to prevent flash hole clogging, but are Pet materials as well graded as media sold for polishing and finishing? I can't find a local shot blasting media supplier for walnut. Any thoughts? TIA.

i got some sand blasting media from a firm online , that is crushed walnut media and is fine works just great just added a squirt of autoglym metal polish

Some of the finest gold nibs for pens are burnished using crushed walnut shells...

Yuo could have bought some of that stuff for £3 a bag(kilo) at Pheonix last weekend.

That's precisely why I want to find bulk bedding or blasting media. The ProRep works out at £1.45 per Kg.

I'll make a note in the diary to do the 600+ mile round trip specifically to pick some up at next years show....bargain!!

I have also heard of folk using cat litter
EDIT: fresh unused stuff, though given some "once-fired reloads" that I was offered by a RFD up this way, I have my doubts

I guess that anything that is even very slightly abrasive would have some merits, but more so in some cases that others - depending on dust levels and staining, plus granule size relative to primer holes, etc.

I haven't used that particular brand as a tumbling media, but I've used a similar type of product.

Results weren't bad, but not brilliant either.
