Hi all,
Please forgive my ignorance in all things reloading (again) but could some one please explain what the difference is in the following :
Lapua .308 Palma Rifle Brass
Lapua .308 Rifle Brass
Sorry if its a dumb question but if I don't ask I'll never know!

Basically the Palma variant of the 308 case uses a small rifle primer instead of the usual large primer, reasoning being that small rifle primers are less variable than large so more consistent results.

The Palma cases seem to handle (Hide!) pressures better than the large primer Lapua cases, down side is the small primer ignition is such that you will need to run an increased powder load to see the the same MV's as with large rifle primers so expect to add anything up to 3/4 of a grain more powder.
Unlike with the 6,5x47 small rifle primer case Magnum primers do not appear to be the way forward. Palma brass is very popular with F/TR shooters however you will need to pay around GBP68/100 instead of the normal GBP48/100 for standard .308 Lapua cases.
