FB-UK Cast Boolit summer league.

#1 Post by dromia »

Just testing the water here to see if there would be any interest in running a FB-UK centrefire cast boolit league over the summer months.

Perhaps two types of competition a bench rest group size 25 yrd indoor/outdoor comp and a for score 100 yrd outdoor comp.

I'm thinking here about range availability for people and also simple cast boolit loads no need for high velocity.

Probably two classes in each for scoped and iron sights.

Bench rest would be front rest/bag or bipod only, for score comp would be prone or elbows only on the bench or trench.

Any aiming point for the Bench Rest and the NSRA 100 yrd target for score so that getting targets wouldn't be an issue.

Scoring would be done by the shooter supported by a photo of each target, named and dated put up here.

Bench rest group size would be largest distance between two holes in a 10 shot group minus the calibre diameter.

For score target scoring would be inward. Five shots each on two targets 10 shots total.

All deliberate.

Five rounds one each month 'tween June and October

I'd be willing to collate the scores

Rifles I don't want to make it too difficult to enter but envisage it being as issued rifles mainly sporters, military and transitional target type rifles.

This is just a starting post for discussion and see if there is any interest

What say ye?

YES - now you're talking.
My PH 1200TX and my 30-06AI sporter will do nicely.

That is two and I know at least a couple more will be along, so we may have the makings of a competition. :goodjob:

Pukka Bundhooks will be putting up some prizes to help sharpen your aim. :shakeshout:

Just to add to the fun you can enter as many times as you want so long as it is shot with different rifles for each entry per class.

I'm in.
Maybe prone unsupported at 100 yards, PL7 masked to a tin-hat, cast boolits, open sights, roller coaster set at 600. What think ye all?

Targets all need to be the same for the 100 yrd shoot, that is why I suggested the NSRA 100 target as they are easy for people to get.

If there is 100 Tin hat targets readily available then I'll got with that but I don't know where to get them, yes you can mask the bottom half out but I'm trying to keep this simple and no bother for people.

I am interested, military and iron sights would be the one for me. I subscribe to the "keeping it simple" style of competition too.
