Having hunted down a stock to cut short I have found a candidate P17 but will a P14 just slot in & bolt down or does it need moding?

I think I have an old P14 'sporter' stock; let me check my loft before you go chopping good stocks.

Sorry to be a bit anal, BUT.........
A P14 is the British .303 version of the P13 experimental .280 rifle.
AN M17 is the .30-06 Yank version of the P13.
We had patterns, the Yanks have models................

M17 stocks were an approved service replacement on P14s, and are a direct replacement fit. The M17 has a slightly longer magazine box and triggerguard, which is why many P14s have a small gap in the woodline at the front corners of the triggerguard.
