Tired eyes and shooting ..

Shot really poorly tonight ... Might have something to do with spending 8hrs on the bike teaching today ...
After just a few seconds of looking through the apertures the front sight and the target were blurring and the target was even starting to "grey out" ..
Scored a 93 on my best card !!
Has anyone else had this issue ? Would eye drops help do you think, or just not bother til another day ??

Leave it til another day. I am of the age when my arms are getting too short. I just had some new contact lenses for short-sightedness and told the bloke to max out my left one (for shooting) and back off a tad on the right. Means i can now see the spotting discs at 600 yards on Century without binos and the target is pin sharp.

It's very common, the eye is a just like any other part of the body they get worn out if used for exstensive periods

sometimes you are better off not shooting and just having a night off.

I did find that some of the spray eye solution works very well

I got that when I did some 22lr target shooting. Problem was traced back to me being left eye dominant and shooting RH - so back to your tired eyes theory. For me I think the target sights and the type that also contributed, I just didn't like it and that affected my ability to concentrate and focus which led to me (and my eyes) getting tired more quickly.

I regularly use simple saline eye drops at the start and end of a long shooting day and top up with Optrex actimist during the day. Definitely makes shooting more comfortable and it feels like it helps when my eyes are a bit tired, but I couldn't prove it in a court of law.

Cheers,

Gaz

Old age doesn't help either!

My biggest problem as a contact lens user is when I concentrate I stop blinking so when I do get around to blinking my left contact can pop out.

Some one told me once to take some green card to look at when not shooting, apparently green relaxes the eyes..
