Most interesting thing you shot with/at last year?

#1 Post by ovenpaa »

This should read what is the most interesting thing you have shot with or at in the last 12 months but it will not fit in the subject line!

It does not need to be exotic or unusual as such, just something that made you thing, "Hmm... interesting"

Over the last 12 months I have had my hands on a few things but for or me is was probably shooting with a .32 PCP rifle that fired 155 grain bullets. Most interesting thing I shot at was a McQueens style thing with Huns heads at 600m, one of the most memorable bits of shooting for 2010.

Anyone?

I got to put a few rounds of slug through a Greener GP Police gun a few weeks ago down at butt zero. I really enjoyed that and I don't think they're all that common. It's certainly my first encounter with a Martini action shotgun and one with a full stock at that.

My PSG shooting gives me the most interesting targets to shoot at. The lollipop attached to a couple of swinging targets on a Y frame is a blast. Shoot the lollipop and it sets the swinger off, then you put a couple of shots into each of the two targets on the swinger. Lollipop attached to a clay thrower is quite good too. The clay arm is usually a DIY one so when you hit the lollipop the clay only shoots up about 6 feet in the air and hovers for a very short time. They're really difficult to hit as the initial flight tends to con me into putting lead on it while it's just hovering there. All this stuff is shot at about 5 to 10 meters so not really in the same league as full bore but still damn good fun.

I was zeroing my air rifle on a mates croft and got bored punching holes in paper, so I got him to place 10 spent 410 shells from between 15m and 30m. While he was setting up I had my back turned, when he had finished, he would tap me on the shoulder and I then had 90s to find and shoot all 10 shells.

We had a great fun and eventually reduced the time to 45s and half buried/hid the shells just to make it that little more interesting.

That was the most interesting course I shot at last year and totally off the cuff.

I'm probably off topic on this one as most of my shooting last year was with my 12G on clays.

At long last I can hit long range going away birds and fast high driven...so satisfying when one accasionally beats the club's best shot.

Must get back into shooting my 357 LBR and 44mag Underlever. Club sec Tom is very ill in hosp after his bowel cancer op. We are all filling in for him...and he's being missed at Tondu.

Ruger Old Army, shot from the hip at 10yds.

Face full of crud and 1 shot on target. It's a lot harder than it looks!
It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!

I shot the 'Ashes' match with the BSRC at Bisley - shot with big game guns.
I used my .416 Rem Mag - the bruise has just gone.
Off hand 10 shots at 100 yds - challenging;rapid fire match - painful.
Venison on the barbie for lunch - all very civilized.
Top notch day out and well worth the 600 mile round trip.
Purveyor of fine cast boolits.
All round good guy and VERY grumpy old man.

De Lisle Carbine 45ACP. Friend had to sell it (money) so we had a few plinks with it before it went. Lovelly gun to shoot, if a little unreliable!

While we were there a friend had a plastic stocked single barrel 12g (i.e. very light!), he just happend to have the most ferocious slug cartridges I have ever shot (think they were from either croatia or czech rep?). We called him Slug B!tch from then on!!!

That was either a LSV (Light Support Weapon) against knock down targets, alternatively it could have been you dropping my lovingly loaded match rounds on the floor, but you aint black.....
