Hi All

I have a very nice P14 Eddystone which I wanted to understand it's date of manufacture, does anybody know the best way to do this. The info I found on the net hasn't helped very much, any pointers?

There should be a date on the barrel - you'll need to take off the furniture to check it though

Other than that there are some good reference books which allow you to date a gun by the serial number ranges, etc.

I have, I've had it in bits looking for it, there was a mark that looked slightly worn away which could of been this but I didn't want to make any assumptions with it.

Have you tried this site?

http://oldguns.net/sn_php/milmods.htm

Drill down the Model 1917 Eddtstone link and enter the serial number.

Good find, it tells me my Remington P14 was built in 1918.
