Well I found one and what a beauty. It came in the post to day a tricked and slicked Hornady scale fitted with a web cam to use with my Targetmaster trickler and connected to my lap top for precise measurements of powder charges.

The brass wheel is a sort of "approach to weight" indicator. The RCBS 10/10 and the 5-10 (and also the Lee) have a very light leaf spring that the damper rests on when the beam is in the down position. As powder is added to the pan the spring starts to lift the beam from the zero position, This action help makes for a smoother beam lift by overcoming beam inertia.

With a scale like the 502 there is only something like a couple of grains between nothing registering on the scale and an overload - with this device fitted the scale can start to read at -5 grains (it's adjustable). The device only lifts the beam for the first 3mm or so, after that the beam is free to float as normal. The brass boss is mounted on a miniature ball bearing race.

I first came up with this idea a year or so ago and have made several variations. If you look at the photo you will see that the damper doesn't always protrude far enough so may need a small copper extension fitted.



If you are using a camera, the extended pointer makes all the difference.



The new level adjuster with a ballbearing in the nose and the weighted base just make the scale nicer to use.
