wtfwtf wtfwtf wtfwtf wtfwtf

I have tried to send a PM and get:
General Error
SQL ERROR [ mysqli ]

Incorrect string value: '\xC2\x92s di...' for column 'message_text' at row 1 [1366]

An SQL error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact the Board Administrator if this problem persists.
I try to save it as a draft:
General Error
SQL ERROR [ mysqli ]

Incorrect string value: '\xC2\x92s di...' for column 'draft_message' at row 1 [1366]

An SQL error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact the Board Administrator if this problem persists.

I then try to change my signature:
General Error
SQL ERROR [ mysqli ]

Incorrect string value: '\xC2\x92s di...' for column 'user_sig' at row 1 [1366]

An SQL error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact the Board Administrator if this problem persists.
Something needs a MASSIVE kick.

This is the age old problem with phpbb...there are certain character set combinations it does not like.

It is unfortunately a trial and error approach.

I would PM you the text - but it will not let me!

There are just ordinary A-Z & a-z characters with . - ? ' and nothing else!

I have stripped out the colour, italic and bold mark-up.

I have just retyped the whole thing, letter by letter including the italic and bold mark-up. This time it has worked, but there is no visible difference between what was there before and there now.

I just had a similar problem; it turned out to be non-ASCII quotes. You can get these if you type in Word then copy and paste into a web form (word converts quotes to open and close 'smart quotes'). It can also happen if copying from a web page. It applies to single quotes, double quotes, apostrophes, hyphens and probably more characters. It's the price one pays for punctuating. I always try to convert them before pasting into a web form but missed a couple this time.
