Hi all
Just a quick query as u can see I'm selling a Persian Mauser with repro scope and pre ww2 3 post scope. If I were to sell the scope on its own how would that affect the rifle as the 3 Holes where the scope was mounted would be open. Will this cause any problems

My opinion would be sell the scope if you want to BUT leave the mount and base on the rifle, not many will buy a rifle with holes in the side of the receiver. Or 2nd option get a gunsmith to plug the holes and make good the finish of the receiver if you must sell the mount, which could be expensive..

Problem is once you drill and tap a receiver on a military rifle unless its a original sniper version it is now worth a lot less.
I have a Columbian with the same problem it is drilled and tapped for scope mounts. When I bought it I got it for £90 because it was drilled and tapped. At the time the same rifle that was not drilled and tapped would of cost me about £160 so I saved some money it still shoots fine so I am happy with it. But if I was to sell it then I would probably not get its full value.

You'll be hard pressed to punt an ex-service rifle that's been drilled for an 'after market' scope mount. Many such rifles have been drilled to make them sporter type, knock-about guns.

Most buyers will be looking for originality and condition. I'd sugges you try selling the rifle complete with mount and scope in the hope of finding a buyer who want an ex-sniper rifle in appearance but without the price tag attached.
