Variation questions - Wiltshire

Hi guys, had my FAC for a few months now and already filled most slots
The main issue I'm having is not enough .22 ammo. 500/600 buy-hold, and its an 80 mile round trip to get decent target ammo.
I've probably bought 2000 rounds in 3 months. Is that a good enough reason to justify a variation? Or should I wait a little longer?
Also I'd be wanting some land cleared to shoot shotgun and maybe .22 rifle on.
When I spoke to my FEO before he said it can take up to 14 weeks for the land to be cleared (different county).
Would I have to send in my FAC original for all that time or just a copy?

For the ammo increase it'd be a case of letting them see the qty you have bought
Depending on how many .22 rifles you have the norm. is usually 1000/1100 - though I have just had my max upped to 2000.
I know folk with double that qty
For the land check thing - my opinion would be to send copies of all sides of the FAC in with a covering letter.
Once the new FAC is ready to collect/mail out you'd then hand/post in your current one
There is NO basis in the law for them needing your FAC while they are carrying out admin & land checks

Thanks saddler, I've got 2 .22 rifles at present but might might ask for another one.
When I originally applied I asked for 1000/1500 but was given 500/600.
I guess I'll have to pop into Devizes police station on the way back from my 'local' gun shop

I think that this may be just the way you wrote your original posting but you don't have land cleared to use a shotgun on it.

..unless the s/g is a S.1 version, in which case you do
O/P never said which it was/is

You dont need land cleared for a sec1 shotgun. They are always open.

Point them at the guidance. Ive never heard of one for vermin that has a land condition.

I quote
the Guidance to them all the time
Their response = it's guidance, not the law = "WE take look at every case on it's individual merits"
(hence a recent one-for-one took over 10 months)
I have more or less held an FAC for over 30 years now...I know what I am talking about when it comes to the law on what can & cannot be done...sadly some of the people enforcing the law seem to prefer inventing their own interpretations of it & adding to the restrictions as much as possible
