I have the lathe and the brass and the black powder and the ball bearings, all I am missing is a bit of jetex fuse and the desire to loose my job and opt for a few years bed breakfast and evening meal at Her Majesty's Pleasure.....

What is the actual law on small items such as those? It is still possible to buy the small "Spud Guns" and caps to fire them. Nothing to stop someone getting one of those and a suitable size pellet, or embed a steel ball in potato or similar. They would certainly hurt at 10metres.
