Another nice one and 54R light ball is a good price and accurate as well.
I often look at the M38 and M44 Carbines and have picked them up a few times, my worry would be firing it with the bayonet folded as the tip is right next to my fingers, add a bit of recoil and it could be messy, having said that I know they are designed to be fired with bayonet extended.

No not fired yet hope to remedy that this week at Bisley.. ovenpaa you could simply fit a cable tie around the bayonet and wood to stop any movement,,,,, simple now you should get one and don't worry..

The muzzle blast/flash with military ball is impressive with these rifles, your shooting neighbours will love you! :lol:

They do group better with the bayonet extended.
My favourite is the original M38 without the bayonet, I had a war time manufacture one and looked real rough on the outside but where it mattered on the bolt action and barrel the parts were smoothed and well fitted.

Hi jjvc.
My fellow club range shooters may not be impressed with the muzzle flash & blast. I also shoot a .308 Steyr sniper with a muzzle brake which has in the past blown over there spotting scopes :lol: :lol: they really moan about it. oh well

Heh! I could always take the bayonet off, we have some 54R in the house plus dies and Christel still has a spare 54R slot

I had one of these M44 carbines for a while.
It was a post-war Polish manufactured in 1953 and almost immaculate. I thought about fitting a mount with a LER-type scope but got bored with it and sold it on. It did kick, had an awful spongy trigger pull and produced a very spectacular muzzle flash.
