Which 'scope for S Class?

I am putting together an S Class rifle for for a customer at the moment, the rifle is a stainless Sako 85 action and barrel chambered in .243 which will sit in a GRS Sporter/Varmint stock so well within weight limit. He has just asked me to look at 'scopes for him as well.

He is looking for something European, 12X magnification, ideally variable, target type turrets and in keeping with the spirit of the class so it can be used for hunting as well.

Any suggestions on a suitable 'scope?

Get an older Zeiss variable 3 - 12 with a no 4 reticule. Look on the German ebay site. You might need to get one with rail mounts (which I use) which would add to the cost (EAW mounts aren't cheap).

if Budget is not an issue - some of the Kahles scopes could be spot on

Kahles CSX
http://www.kahles.at/eng/products/helia ... btensions/
Has the right magnification : CSX2.5 2-10

Kahles COMPETITION
http://www.kahles.at/eng/products/compe ... ical-data/
Higher Mags but could be dialled down and has more recticule options

This Zeiss model looks good - covers both Hunting and Target

Victory Diavari 3–12x56 T*
The biggest model of the range delivers that crucial extra light in twilight conditions. Together with the higher magnification it is also suitable for longer range shooting in daylight. Available with Reticle 4 in the 1st image plane (with or without rail mount) and with Reticle Z-Plex in the 2nd image plane. This version is designed for ring mounting.

ENS, this is for the 'other' Saffy and we did briefly discuss options this morning, he did say a PMII was going to be too much of a lump but has an open mind other than that. Christel has already suggested Kahles however they are quite pricey..

How about this:

A friend has one with the Mil Dot reticle rather than the V Dot. It's very, very good!

You could try a leupold fx3 a straight 12 power scope with target turrets and very lightweight .

Second hand Pecars are a good way to go, I got the one I'm using of a member here for £250. They are very fine glass indeed.

I've taken the plunge and ordered a Meopta ZD 3-12x50 Tactic!

I've been told by the importer that it's the only one remaining in the country with the modified Mil-Dot reticle.

Hopefully, the stock figure is correct and it hasn't been sold.

Unfortunately, I'm on a strict budget so I cannot afford a Kahles K312 II 3-12x50 scope, which would probably be my first choice.
