So I bought the GSG-5 off here the other day, the one with feed issues and took it out for a spin tonight at the range. I'd given it a damn good clean (not that it really needed it) and reassembled before tonights outing.

So, the problems (not that I'm complaining as I was fully aware about them)

1) Light strikes, had about 10 of the 100 or so I fired tonight not working. Very light dents on the rims --> New firing pin spring?

2) Failure to extract, case left in the barrel when the bolt carrier comes back, had to pull the cases out with a screw driver, they did seem pretty tight in there --> New extractor?

3) The bolt carrier is not fully closing, leaving about 4-5 mill open. How easy should it be to get the round into the chamber, just fall in or need a good whack? --> Replace the pair of springs in the bolt carrier?

4) Needs a replacement allen bolt on top of the bolt itself, it's got a stripped head so I can't get it out to fully disassemble. Where can I get a spare from?

GSG spare parts in general, who stocks them in the UK?

I'm hoping I can get to the bottom of these problems by replacing the bits identified above, but anything else to check / try?

It used to be York Guns but they let GSG go a few months back. Someone else has taken it on, but I can't remember whom. Perhaps give YG a bell and they should let you know.

Clean the chamber would be my first suggestion, perhaps with a wire cleaning rod brush. I think on a semi .22 an unfired round should chamber with very little pressure. And if facing downwards, probably just under gravity.

I would guess once the round chambers easily, then you won't get light strikes as the bolt will be fully home before firing, and the extractor will probably engage more reliably too when it is pushed up tight against the breech face.
