Custom Dies

#1 Post by wildrover77 »

How do i go about getting custom dies made?

If I have the chamber reamer that made the barrel can I use it to ream die blanks?

Who does this?

You need to get a die blank ( newlon etc) and a reamer cut for the job, not the reamer used to cut your chamber.

If you already have fired cases it would be easier to send them to Neil jones or the like to make you a set of dies.

Out of interest, what calibre?

Dave Kiff of PTG (Pacific Tool and Gauge) also supplies Die Blanks as well as reamers to your own drawing or sample case.

Nice round, have you gone for the one based on the 221 fireball or the br case version?

Hornady custom will do you a die, ssk will hold them I would think as they developed the whole whisper line. If you have a look on line there are others who have the dies off the shelf.

Good luck, I'm thinking of doing a 300 whisper myself, I few reports on how your getting on would be nice.

I have been searching for hours online, Who has them on the shelf? It is the 7mmBR version. Found lots of .300 Whisper but no .338.

SSK told me to p*** off, they only sell dies with a barrel.

Apparently Steve Bowers can make a set but cant get any reply from him.

Why can you not use the same reamers to make a die as chamber a barrel? I take it the diels need to be slightly undersize?

A company called CH4D sell the dies and they should export them to you ok. They may have them listed under a different name, email them for the info.
