They are cheap as chips ebay specials,
Search "see through scope rings" (fight your way past the see through Knickers, bra underwear nightgown prompts)
I got these ones for my Marlin 1894, as they promised the option for using open sights with your scope. Unfortunately they never worked as described as the fitting bolt obscured the rear sight - but the are just the right hight for this,

Nice forend, i had my hands round one today

It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!
Re: SGC 9mm Lever release - something black continued
Today I received a CAA Pistol grip to replace the standard unit.
http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=3249 ... ISTOL-GRIP
On removing the standard unit I found that SGC have drilled an additional hole which is the housing for a spring that pushes on the safety, making sure that the safety does not flop around.
On the CAA picture you can see a hole on the left/bottom side of the grip. I have sent the grip up to Ovenpaa and hopefully with his machines he will be able to replicate a similar hole on the other side.

Should you be looking to customise your Lever action you will find that the Fore end and stock are standard AR parts but as I found out today the pistol grip needs some work doing with a bench drill and vice before you can mount it.

It has arrived and I see what you mean about the hole for the safety, I am wall papering this morning but should be able to sort it out and post it back this afternoon.

I put a CAA one on mine too as the standard A2 grip is too small for my hand (which is strange given that its an American pistol grip and i have average size 'european' hands . . .) I think mine was a CAA16. Shockingly i don't have a picture
I've got nothing to do this weekend so might get snapping!
I was a brave boy and drilled my own safety catch detent spring hole though - softie!! :55:
I've also fitted the new larger lever release now which is much better and now puts it in reach for my girlfriend too

As i have small(ish) hands, I'd like to have the larger release lever as well. Did you have to return the rifle to Bob or did you do it yourself? I really couldnt face having to return anything to SGC ever again.Blackstuff wrote:I put a CAA one on mine too as the standard A2 grip is too small for my hand (which is strange given that its an American pistol grip and i have average size 'european' hands . . .) Re: SGC 9mm Lever release - something black continued
Ceri,
Initially i was going to send it to SGC, on Bob's recommendation . . . . Then i thought about it £30 P&P both ways and at least a £20 transfer fee, all for a £27 part . . . hmm maybe not!
Its actually really easy to fit, you just need 2 allen keys (metric - not 100% on the sizes but i'll find out).
1/ Split the reciever making sure the rear locking pin is fully pushed out
2/ Look in lower receiver for the 'pin/bar' which runs through the gun that the lever attaches to, it should have a small allen key slot on the top
3/ Insert smaller allen key (1.5mm i THINK) into grub screw on the top of the pin/bar and hold in place (You might want to get another person to do this to free up your hands)
4/ Insert larger allen key (2mm i THINK) into the screw holding the lever on and turn anti-clockwise - N.B. You need to push up on the lever, holding it against the retention 'nub' to avoid damaging the spring. It'll be locktite'd on so you do need to use quite a bit of force, mine came off using hand pressure only (the allen key was flexing though!)
Hey presto, it just screws off! Put on the new lever and re-attach the screw (all the while holding the smaller allen key in place!)
I've got nothing to do tonight so i'll take some pics (if i remember  )
