Maybe we should start a petiton to ban HGV's... "A duty to protect the public before anything happens???"

There is good evidence that banning the hiring of HGV's would save more people from terrorists than banning .50 cal rifles...

As I said in an earlier post, Nick Hurd is a career politician open to statement politics as a way of forwarding his career. It has been the desire of various FEOs to remove MARS out of personal hate for a long time... the events of various (and recent) terrorist incidents just offering too good an opportunity to miss under the banner of "they might be"...! It is also a long standing agenda within the HO, so in many ways it matters not whom the political masters may be at any given time.

The way to deal with this is to either remove Nick Hurd from a position of influence, undermine a party position through potential loss of votes / threaten tenure in office or to fight the process through legal (and politically damaging) challenge. Cost will not be a factor for HMG as they are playing with "our money".

You fight fire with fire... any attempt to play nice will just see loss after loss...

If an item is banned then there has to be remedy under common law, but this will not stop HMG as again they are playing with "our money".

So, 200 fac holders with .50 cal costs 4 million.. it is not their money, it is mine so they will pay out without blinking..

In reality it will be less as they will compensate the rifle, but not the accessories such as reloading gear..

No, that is not the reality. I was paid almost £5K for my cartridge cases alone from the handgun ban, there is absolutely no reason why shooters will not be compensated in full. The consultation states that compensation will be paid and the format has been established.

The “internet” opinion that compensation will not be paid, is bollox.

I didn't receive any letter of warning when I requested variations for my LBP or later my SGC LR 9mm.

Just going to have to wait and see what happens with the consultation...

Only a few Police forces sent out letters like that and in a legal sense they are an opinion not a fact and not worth the paper they are printed on! The forces who sent them out had no legal grounds to make the statement they did about no compensation if you purchased a MARS or Lever action rifle. The forces that did it were trying to spook FAC holders into not buying them in the first place, it is not the Polices place to say if there would be compensation or not.

Several of our club members have DSR-50's, they are £17,000 each plus optics etc. Compensation has been factored in, but not if they include the hundreds/thousands of SGC/XCR LR owners as they only listed the import numbers for MARS rifles. Surrey are still happily handing out variations for 9mm rifles which is good as there has been some rush purchasing just in case grandfather rights are invoked.

Compared to HS2 or Hinkley Point ,the cost of compensation is pocket change , as far as politicians are concerned the numbers just don't matter.
