6.5 Creedmoor is fine at the 300 yard range at Pickering.

I am sure a couple of Tees Valley Target Sports guys are members of Pickering. Pickering is just up the road from me. I might have a word with them.

It's happened in SE Kent on the Hythe MOD range.
The story I got was bugger all to do with MV and ME it was the fact that the ultimate range of the 6.5 CM exceeded the 7.62 x 51 nato round by a clear and substantial amount.
Personally I think it's the thin end of a very fat wedge but that's just me.
I understand and it's purely that, ranges with an effective and substantial backstop will not be so affected but it's all down to the local chief rupert.
I know in SE Kent there was concern amongst the MOD snowflakes that boatloads of migrants were at risk, this follows an incident where a boat full apparently decamped and strolled over the sea wall whilst a range was in use, with no casualties; I heard it was whilst the Ukrainians were being trained up. Anyway a new system was put in place with a centrally operated alarm centre monitoring the approaches and if they can't man this station then the range sessions are cancelled.

Should have elaborated that this extended range was due to the ballistic efficiency of the long, thin projectiles.

I understand it has nothing directly to do with MV/ME/super pointy bullets/other mystical properties of the Creedmoor.
It's all to do with the fact the range operating authorities have no idea how it performs if it misses the target or the bullet catcher. Until this is determined, they have suspended their use.

No conspiracy, just prudent behaviour from a ROA.

So what do they have to do with the Creed......find a desert, then nail a barn door to the back of a tractor and drive it slowly away while someone keeps firing at it at an angle of 30 degrees to the horizontal until the POI's move down the barn door until they disappear off the bottom, then stop the tractor and measure how far away from the firing point it's travelled, and add on the safety addition?

Be a lot simpler to apply the same table/algorithm that they use for every other calibre they get to play with

It beggars belief.....
