saddler wrote:I started this thread as an informational one, as a few folk seemed to be using the wrong term for BULLET

This confusion is not restricted to end-users of bullets - several RFD's & even major importers also seem to struggle with the facts about what the correct name for part "X" or component "Y" is....but the as the latter group are not users of the items in question, and are purely concerned with sales targets & profit margins; calling an item by the wrong name makes no difference to them so there is no incentive to learn what is correct & what is not...
It's a cause of MUCH confusion in the gun trade as too many folk (both FAC holders & RFD's) trying to order "bullets" from the trade actually mean AMMUNITION - hence the surprised looks when the TNT driver delivers their package & they find out that the parts that go bang are nowhere in sight...

Seems that the folk that have spat their dummy out/thrown teddy in the corner the most are the ones calling a bullet a head...sorry that some folk are so thin skinned...and NO personal digs/attacks were meant/implied/intended

As Lewis Carroll wrote,
'When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, 'it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.'
So
- if you are bored by this thread - don't read it - the internet is a BIG place (if you DO find the end of it let me know...)
- if YOU choose to use the wrong terminology - don't get all upset when others pull you up for it (how are THEY supposed to know if you are close minded to learning, or not?) As AR15COM would sum it up,
Image
- if you using the wrong term. - please DO keep that use to yourself - along with any other strange practices you may get up to. New shooters have enough information to absorb as it is.

IF I HAD INTENDED TO KICK OFF A MAJOR BUN FIGHT I'D HAVE STARTED A THREAD OFF WITH A POLITICS/RELIGION THEME & SAT BACK TO ENJOY THE SHOW

Now, a quick question....

I await more hand bag attacks/dummy spitting....now, where's my popcorn?

Ah but those are pointy things on a stick, mine are pointy things on a brass shell case. Pointy things on stick are the ancestors of pointy things on a brass shell case, they could both have someones eye out if one isn't careful with them.

Can't believe this nonsense is still being flogged, Jesus people go and do some reloading or even go outside maybe? it's a brave new world out there....…

This is nearly as bad as when somebody mentions a Suffolk riflesmith on a popular green colour shooting forum !!!! :cool2:
