Taurus LBRs are made in Brazil to UK spec and are shipped here from Brazil. Taurus USA, a subsidiary, also carried 12 inch revolvers in their catalog, marketed as the Hunter and Silhouette. They were just shipped to the US with other Taurus revolvers. Those in the US are indeed s5 as described and couldn’t have a coat hanger attached then shipped to the UK. As said, UK spec Taurus come from the factory in Brasil.
Coincidently, the 12” revolvers have been dropped from the US catalog...

Yes, because at the moment, legislation and guidance says you are wrong.

So back to my point, you’re saying RFD such as Rude Fat Dog is selling illegal Guns...? you are both just baseing your opinions on speculations that just because Wilson or Westlake couldn’t get hold of frames direct that others cant.
Secondly there is no president set that clears up the grey area about whether the firearms manufactured outside the UK have to be built from frame up. Apart from the fact they are already available in the UK within the UK Guide lines.

We do go off the rails sometimes and provide ammunition to our detractors. Stop it.

Yeah, because everyone will have missed to the two RFDs who supplied hundreds of guns and ammunition to criminals...

Have you read any of the explanations given? I said several posts ago and earlier in the thread, that if the S&W LBRs have been assembled using parts from a previous gun that would fall into s5, then those revolvers would need s5 authority to possess! They are not illegal per se, but they would be s5 and everything that goes with that prohibited weapon!
My opinion is based on the legislation that has existed for 30 years and of the advice I received on this very subject. There does not need case law at this time to clear up anything. The law is clear, if the weapon has been
AT ANY TIME one as which is described in s5, then it will always be prohibited, no matter what is done to it to meet the criteria of other categories. How is that so difficult to understand?

And as said before Sec 1/5/7 doesn’t apply outside the UK.
It only applies to converting a Sec 5 /7 to a sec 1.
If they were prohibited RFD’s wouldn’t be selling them as Sec 1.

UK legislation effects all manner of goods and services coming into the UK whether it’s food, medicine, cars or guns. The legislation states at “any time”. That doesn’t matter whether it was yesterday or 80 years ago, or made in Birmingham, Massachusetts or Rio de Janero! If it was at any time a prohibited weapon as described in s5 of the Primary Act, then it will always remain so in UK law.
RFDs are selling them due to either ignorance or a willfull disregard.
Now I would love to hear that there has been a change in guidance or a repeal of s7, because if there was, I would pay the three grand to have a Smith LBR in my cabinet, but there has not been and I cannot on the basis of the law.

The revolvers destined for the US, with just the 12” barrel and no coat hanger, then no, they are not. Likewise, those revolvers that were marketed in the US, could not then have a coat hanger fitted and then shipped to the UK.
However, UK spec Taurus LBRs are built in the Brasilian factory as UK spec, then shipped here. Hence s1.
