I have no intention of provoking anyone but I have obviously underestimated the sensitivity of some members.
At the end of the day on places like this people can choose to be provoked or not.
And people have to accept that comments that they make are provoking and have provoked in the past and therefore try and refrain from it especially as I say if you are in role of responsibility.
I don't believe its down to members being sensitive its about showing people respect, just because you might not agree with a firearm / item / technology there is no need to be disrespectful, I grant you the AR threads in the past have turned into a bit of a bun fight, but at least see if people have learned from the past before prodding the subject with comments designed to provoke and wind people up.

One can choose to be offended but you can't choose to be provoked......that is in the hands of the provocateur

I fail to see the provocation in calling pretendy ARs pretendy ARs any more than calling other types of guns SOWRs for instance, which is quiet common on here with no cries of provocation or offence taken by owners of the type of guns being referred to.

Maybe it is time to leave this subject as I see that no one apart from yourself will ever be seen as being correct or having a valid point of view

It's been pointed out to you multiple times in this thread that it is coming across as provocative or antagonistic. Whether that's the intent or not it is certainly the impact.

I think all the points of view here are valid, that is what people choose to think.
I am quiet happy for people to disagree with the name pretendy AR, that is their view just as pretendy AR is my view.
We don't agree obviously but each view is valid, I just don't see what all furore is about.

The furore is about it coming across like you are not only expecting this thread to descend into chaos because it's about AR's, but that you're actively trying to cause a stir by the way you're posting, yet you're supposed to be the voice of reason, a moderator, an administrator to stop it descending into chaos.
Your continued use of a derogatory phrase which multiple posters have said is antagonistic further proves this point.
If this was any other member doing so and you saw it, you'd be posting about getting the thread back on topic, or deleting posts, as it is you that's the antagoniser, it's fine? That's a pretty harsh double standard, by anyone's yard-stick.

What then is the difference tween calling pretendy ARs pretendy ARs and calling older guns SOWRs?
From your logic people using that terminology should be pulled up as well.
We only pull post and threads when it getting personal or in breach of the rules, robust debate is never pulled.

Well put, you are a little more tactful than myself, hence I was refraining from commenting further.

I see no difference, furthermore I have never heard of yet alone used the phrase SOWR.
How many threads start with the moderator posting straight off the bat SOWR ALERT! SOWR ALERT! SOWR ALERT! Like it's some kind of bad thing?
There's a difference between using a phrase with malignant intent (pretendy AR) than one with affectionate intent (SOWR) as I presume you refer to your rifles.
What, prey-tell even makes an Straight-Pull AR "Pretendy"?
Even a Straight-Pull AR-15 is a variant of an AR-15. Therefore not pretend, it is what it is.
There's enough divide in the shooting community without adding further to it. If you don't like the type of firearm that's being discussed, simply don't post. I can see it's your duty to administer, so you may have to read the posts to make sure there's no breach of rules, but to post berating those trying to learn more about a firearm is bad form.
