26:50 in to the program:

By in large a good effort albeit with my issues above also why did they have to start with the spooky music at the beginning?

I also think it is over simplistic to just say we want the laws relaxed, we want them simplified and applied in a fairer manner. We want certain gun classes restored to S.1 like self loading centrefire rifles and Pistols.

"Contributor unhappy with the way he's represented after the edit" shocker!

We will never, ever get what we might want when it comes to general media coverage of shooting sports, because there is always an agenda or a sub-text at work.

Add to that the fact that the vast majority of programme makers and journalists have no knowledge or experience of most of the subjects they are reporting on and it's obvious there will be mistakes, omissions, distortions, exaggerations, subjectivity, sensationalisation and all the other complaints we usually hear when a shooting story is published or broadcast.

The spooky music seemed to turn into some sort of CBBC theme tune music after a few minutes. Probably chosen by a BBC intern or a random selection from Benjamin's royalty-free music collection perhaps? :)

TVP have always refused to disclose their full dealings with Ryan, citing confidentiality and classified status of the documents.

There was a full and frank investigation into Central Scotland Police's dealings with Hamilton by the Cullen Enquiry. The ACC of CSP a man by the name of McMurdo, was slated by the Enquiry. McMurdo appeared on the steps outside the building, made a spurious comment along the lines that "All guns should be banned." Then resigned and fecked off to Australia and retirement! Cullen then put his findings under a 100 year closure....

The spree shooting by Bird in Cumbria is probably the one that could not have been for seen or prevented by the police and the licensing system.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

In respect of Cumbria when considering the current push to ban .22lr Semi Auto Rifles and guns that look asthetically military a couple of pictures of the types of gun Bird used speaks a thousand words!

Of course if the CZ had a scope that makes it a Sniper rifle!

On the matter of accurate reporting, how do we get the BBC to understand that:

a) it's not a licence, and

b) you can't keep a legally held firearm in a cupboard

Well to be fair he is one of the few people prepared to step up to the plate with his real name.

He does make a fair few factual mistakes or omissions in his videos but he is more knowledgeable than Joe Public.

I missed the chance to fire handguns and think this side of shooting would have been the most enjoyable for me personally. At the same time I do understand the changes to remove most of the easily concealable firearms from public access. I'm a father and I have an active imagination. I understand there are still a plethora of other easily concealable (or otherwise) weapons that can do significant damage to a number of people and quickly.

I'm doubtful that a foolproof and maintainable solution could be put in place by a public body that can be upheld and monitored by the police given the current state of public spending etc that would really change or reverse anything that has been put in place already AND then get public backing. I guess education is the answer but I doubt there is any public appetite to be educated, especially when the majority don't share or understand the pastime.

I'm a newbie oick though :)

I was surprised at the range or firearms that could be privately owned when I started looking into this again a few years back but not alarmed by it. I know people with firearms and I hope to own some myself at some point in the future. I guess I'll go through the current system myself and I'll have a better view coming out the other side.

This /\/\/\. It gets right on my t!ts when he repeatedly says firearms license but fair play to him, at least he's sticking his head above the parapet.
