Rather than fixating on what could be banned wouldn't it be more prudent to discuss ways to ensure nothing further gets banned?.

The way I see it is that a lot of people aren't too bothered if their particular interest or discipline isn't threatened, it shouldn't be like that and we should all be united.

I'm beginning to think that government wants Isis to invade without any resistance)

WTF are you on about now?
Are you fantasizing about some kind of Dad's Army resistance

Looking at the strong opposition & many acts violence in Germany, the Bxls liberal-fascists are seriously scarred of a popular movement opposing the cross-Med muslim invasion they are sponsoring.

The 2005 & 2013 Paris riots and the 2011 London one have plainly demonstrated the near incapability of the state to keep order. Without being alarmist, once those millions of invaders will start making troubles, and it's only a question of time, there is a serious & realistic risk that the situation will be near impossible to manage.

In this scenario, the last thing Gvnts will then want, is a tiny number of indigenous citizens protecting themselves & by doing so, starting a cycle of retaliation by the invaders. Hence this current proposed ban which is only the prelude to the ultimate total mass-disarmament of all individual European citizens.

Airsoft anyone
And in one fell swoop our learned friend demonstrates why the sort of gun control we have is entirely justified....and not actually working obviously kukkuk .

Feel free to join the many other maybee wannabee operators, face down, in their own communal pool of urine on a street near you. I will video it (from cover of course) and put it on "You Tube"!!!

This is neither an airsoft game or a video game. We have real guns and so do the terrorists of the world, and there in the vast majority of the cases on here and any other forum ends the similarity.

I was unlucky enough to be shot at n(I still suspect it was our lot or the yanks to be fair teanews ), and once I realised WTF was going on it was singularly the most terifying event of my life. Whether I may have got used to it I will never know, but take a tip.

Those French coppers were taking cover as well....and fair play.

and not a re-boot button in sight ;)

In fact, here's my best guess (list of dispair!) on the order in which privately held firearms will be eliminated (most likely by a process of increasing licensing followed by complete ban for each type) over the coming years unless we manage to stop the rot:

Semi auto firearms resembling military types (fullbore rifles and pistols)
I take it your "list of despair" includes mainland Europe.....as we have no semi auto full bore (centrefire) firearms in the UK.
Yes, obviously as this is a draft EU directive, not a UK one. This has the unpleasant side effect that there would no longer be the option of "quickly popping over" to Belgium/France/Czech Republic/wherever for a dose of shooting not available in the UK.

Absolutely - it's quite clear to me that all shooting is at risk over the medium to long term, so we need to pull together to make sure the various bodies are aware that we are not prepared to sacrifice through appeasement. I've messaged the BASC (as the designated UK political representative of shooting sports) making clear that I am not a game shooter but I am a member due to their political support for all shooting sports - I trust that everyone else will be making similar statements to them....

I see that BASC made an announcement yesterday that they will be fighting the proposals - let's hope that their efforts prove to be effective.

History has shown us that BASC is just like the rest of the shooting "organisations" they will shaft shooters to maintain their own vested interest.

If we rely on our "national" bodies to save gun ownership in the UK then it is already lost just like the pistols and semi autos.

The "national" organisations focusing on disciplines epitomises all that is bad about British shooting, divisive camps that will shaft other shooters to keep their own little fiefdoms of interest.

We have no organisation of any substance or influence dedicated to fighting for gun ownership in this country and challenging the antis, shooting will die because of it.

European Commission officials are trying to instrumentalize Friday events that struck our country and make a dubious and insulting amalgam, between legal ownership of semi-automatic weapons by law-abiding citizens of our Republic and the illegal possession of automatic weapons by barbaric terrorists. Thus, you will be presented shortly a proposal for revision of Directive 2008 / 51 / EC on firearms contained in the MEMO - 15 - 6111, as part of the security agenda set 28 April 2015.

In this proposal , it appears in the paragraph 3, "what changes in the firearms directive" is the commission proposing today an obvious contradiction between the pretext, the use of illegal automatic war weapons, and the actual objective, prohibition of legally owned civilian semi-automatic rifles. this prohibition of legal guns, already heavily regulated & controlled, will obviously have absolutely no impact on the risks caused by the arrival across the Schengen area's border of the illegal weapons used by the terrorists.

At a time when we are asked not to make any amalgams, citizens holders of legal weapons - hunters, shooters, collectors - rely on their representation in the European Parliament not to become unnecessarily collateral victims of terrorism and resist the excessive influence of personal unelected European Commission.

Curious of your views & position on the matter of this arbitrary liberticite proposal, please accept, Christophe, the expression of my highest consideration

Translation of the letter I have sent to both my French MP & member of Senat (Lords Chamber) . I will amend it and send it to my English ones. I urge all UK shooters & hunters they do the same, cos the Euro-liberal-fascists will not stop here....

Very good! I see that our favourite Mr Yardley has found and commented in his now-familiar style.

I suspect that he's going to wear out his keyboard if he carries on at this rate....
