Thats what happens when single interest/individual clubs are left to it. If the NRA/BASC or god forbid BSSC don't pull their fingers out shortly I think i'm going to be firmly in the Dromia camp of opinion on 'national' organisations

I'll only get worried if I grow a beard, start distrusting the metric system and fancying guns made out of bits of trees

Unfortunately as has been evident those organisations are all Single Interest Clubs/Associations... :(

We've all been crying out for years for one, but there doesn't seem to be an active and recognised all encompassing association for the Promotion and protection of all shooting sports in the UK.

It is what the NRA should be, however they have on numerous occasions suggested that they cannot get political, due to their charitable status.

I fail to see how responding to an open consultation is considered political, the NRA's charitable status is based upon the promotion of rifle shooting and competition ( in a rush so i've not looked up its exact status, so stand to be corrected)
So long as there are members who shoot firearms covered by the consultation then the NRA are more than eligible to act for shooters. I sincerely hope that much is being done preparing a response and that this will be shared with members (as a minimum).
If nothing is being done then this should also be conveyed to the membership and an explanation given.

Here lies a potential for "crushing from within" when people stop giving money to shooting organisations due to their inaction which will then make them fold and leave shooters with no force whatsever

Worth considering

It is the "lack of action" that comes before the withdrawal of support. If the "national" organisations fail us one this then at least for me I will cease my NRA and BASC memberships, I get no direct benefits from them other than multiple insurances, another bloody scam on their parts, stopping nonsense like this is what I pay them for. Failure here and support will go, I've stayed in the "tent" for decades now against my better judgement but if we are let down on this then the "tent" can burn for me as it is proven to be useless.

In the event that it is I to whom you are referring then I would like to make it clear that it is not just the metric system I distrust but all those who choose to use it.

More so considering I’m growing my winter beard and just bought my first .303!!

Not that I expect much, but my considered reply to my MP regarding her cut and paste initial response has resulted in an invite to meet up next week.

At least she is prepared to listen, even though I doubt any action..

FCSA are not throwing MARS or anything else to the wolves but cannot credibly represent ALL disciplines and speciality firearms from a position of specific expertise.

There is a big difference between not being properly qualified and not being interested.

If FCSA can stop this consultation from passing adverse legislation then it will help EVERYONE.

I have just donated £100 to the fighting fund set up by Chris Stevenson .....FCSA chairman.... to help cover legal expenses to fight this.

I doubt that NRA or BACS will stand up for us and I am not going to renew memberships if that is the case.

If anyone wants the BACS details for the fighting fubd then I can forward this......it might be 50 cal on point but we are all in the firing line.....I don't have a 50 by the way!

I would like to hear from the NRA as to what their plan of action is, if it is wanting then I will cease my membership due on December and put that to a fighting fund if it is to stop the proposed legislation rather than compromise.

I don't do electronic money so I hope they will take cheques.
