It didn't stop them in 1988, Rob, after Hungerford. The government seized the opportunity then and I think they'll seize it again. Perhaps not as far as banning, but certainly in reclassifying certain types of gun.
True. They made multishot pumps and autoloading shotguns S1 even though one wasnt ever used.

Its just a pity that the NRA or BASC dont have the political clout similiar organisations have in the US.

Never underestimate the deviousness of our masters who WILL see you disarmed one way or another..by doing like this they avoid compo if and when someone fails to qualify for S1 if they only have an SGC..

Personally it's the LBR to s5 that would be a worry.

Don't know what the market is currently like...ie shooters apprehensive about law change versus poor supply.

BTW who is importing Taurus LBRs nowadays?

LBR's to S5, I bloody well hope not! I've got one and just put a deposit on a second!!!!!

However, I can see S2 going completely. Everything onto S1 and having to give "good reason" for whatever. I can see that GP's will have more input to applications/renewals. But as opposed to giving opinions, I reckon it will be pointed questions; "Does the applicants medical history show mental health issues....." etc. I reckon a lot more scrutiny will be applied to those who have previous convictions and cautions. And, regardless of the evidence given at the HAC by ACPO, I can see the age limits for obtaining a "gun licence" will be raised to perhaps 17.

There will be "sweetners" in it as well, like back in '97 when Co2 airweapons came off S5, namely expanding ammo will go back to S1.

And the one that wont be popular and cost a lot of people a lot of money, I can see S58 and obsolete calibers disappearing and have to go on a "collectors ticket"......

All of this is purely my opinion.

York guns were bringing in the Taurus, but I believe that Taurus are abandoning them. Even the `12" barreled options in "free" countries have been dropped from Taurus' catalog.

You probably know that Doctors and Consultants pay a small fortune for insurance and there is the Medical Board for mal practice etc.

Both will have something to say about what medical opinions are given to the Police, and how, and when, and why...to the extent that the wording will sound as vague as a bank reference and just about as useful.

;)

My prediction of doom is losing S2 and full medical history becoming mandatory - and that the cost will be added to application/renewal prices. Even if we're not charged for the medical report i'd be A-MAZED if fees weren't increased, they haven't changed for at least 6 years and theres been ACPO pressure for quite a while to make the firearms licensing process self-funding. :?

I do really hope that expanding ammo is brought back to S1, and that all rimfire calibres will be permitted in semi-auto (not that i could afford to feed a .17HMR semi! :( )

I'll have one tomorrow, even if renewal charges go up, and a doc has to feel my bumps.

:D
