Any further suggestions or comments from shooters in the Aberdeen area?

There is a large and active club in the area

Ian, I'm down in Dundee but shoot up at Aberdeen on and off. There are several members on here from surrounding clubs that you could contact and I'm sure a reasonable turnout could be secured.

More than happy to help if needed.

Hate forgetting to check whether there is another page.

Thanks for a well balanced reply. As far as courses go the NRA may need to consider a more flexible approach that draws on the experience of its wider membership, some of which would probably be willing to offer their time free of charge. As an example of the bureaucracy in place; I am a Military (Navy) qualified Range Conducting Officer (SA90(B)) a qualification not fully recognised by the NRA but far more involved the just that taught in a weekend's course. In order to get a NRA RCO qualification I would have to pay the NRA a fee and get my CO to verify my competence (quite frankly my CO could only confirm that I am qualified and could not 'Quality' assure me). However I have been called upon on many occasions to RCO on the firing point or run the butts at NRA sponsored matches, which I do willingly but still refuse to pay a fee to wear a yellow NRA tabard. Get the NRA to be a little more flexible, review and check CVs and draw upon the membership's experience without forcing people to do courses that just tick boxes and add no value.
