Apparently they are as nasty as they are cheap - just a flimsy plastic skin with no strength or durability. If true, it's a shame...

We thought we'd update this.
We've bought two rifles:
1. Remington 597 semi-auto with a heavy bull barrel and a superb laminated stock
2. An Izhmash bolt action Biathlon rifle
Each rather nice in their own way, and leaving a few pennies in piggy towards either a Browning take down or a Pietta PPS 50

Class. Have you shot it yet, any chance of some pictures and a bit of a write up on it?

No, not yet, we took the Remington out this weekend and gave that a good blatting* . The Izhmash will be taken out the next time the 25m range is available, possibly mid May. We'll definitely do a write up - the bolt reminds us of a Luger toggle lock...
*
verb, to consume ammunition voraciously

Re the Izhmash Biathlon, did you have one reserved with Rusmilitary before they stopped stocking them? If I remember correctly, they were selling them for about £1200!
