Thanks to Steve E and his friend I had a chance to try my Swing out today at 300 yds. I've not used aperture sights before, and didn't have a handgrip or sling, so it wavered about somewhat. The trigger is very nice, and the 'ping' very audible, that must be quite a spring in there.

It doesn't care much for the cheap surplus stuff I started off with, but when I tried some better quality ammo they seemed to go in much the same area of the target. No issues with ejection, and the bolt isn't that stiff to eject either.

I'll see how I fare with bipod and scope for the next outing, not sure when that will be though.

It's amazing how accurate apertures can be - though if you were with Steve, that was probably demonstrated....

Had a quick go at 100 yds yesterday with a scope, using a rest because I left the bipod here (d'oh), but discovered at that distance even cheap ammo does the job. I think it's going to take some time to get my abilities close to what the rifle is capable of achieving.

Someone has cut quite a length of the stock at some point, it's a bit short for me even with three spacers. Anyone know if there are other stocks around, either originals or modern ones that fit the Swing action?

Shugie, as an alternative to spacers and new stocks you can always fit a 3 or 4 way adjustable butt pad such as a Tubb or similar, this gives you the ability to set the position of the butt pad exactly as you need it, they are easy enough to fit and are very cost effective given the adaptability they offer. I think they look good as well when properly fitted.

Ignore places like MidwayUK prices, they are certainly cheaper elsewhere.

Had a look for the Tubb device on the Midway US web site and its not got very good reviews. Most reviewers don't think it holds still under full-bore recoil.

Christel uses a Tubb 4 Way and has no issues whatsoever with it. I had a delivery of adjustable rear butt sections yesterday however they are all spoken for as they are going on Model 66 and Model 75 chassis systems.

Shugie, I can always get an extra one added to the next order if you wish, they are going to be a lot cheaper than the Tubb and are very well made.
