YES , I would , and it would be a high cap 9mm , probably a SIG P228 or 226 , with 2x 20rd spare mags .

if you ever need a pistol in an emergency , you may be out numbered , and you will find the extra rds afforded by high cap guns , to be VERY important .

Question from America. Under your current gun laws are there any of your citizens for a certain reason allowed to carry a gun concealed? What about private security guards for some of your famous actors, TV personalities etc. What about those that guard Her Majesty the Queen and your PM? ( I am sure that is the case but.......)
Just a couple points of interest, I believe that in the states of Illinois and Hawaii there are no permits to carry for the average bloke. In my state (Rhode Island) a permit to carry is $40.00 for four years, you have to qualify with the gun before a certified NRA instructor and he signs a form to be sent with your application. You can carry any type of gun but only in the caliber that you qualify with or below. Example: If you qualify with a .38 you can carry a .38, .380, 9mm, .357, .32, .25, .22. It is the size of the bullet not the power. If you qualify with a .45, you can carry a .45, .455 (they let you sneak it in), 44 magnum, .357, .32 etc down the list.

On the Basis that only the military and police have access to Pistols (with one or two exceptions) and they deal with security of the Royals and Political types that only they can carry.

I would be surprised of any civilian security companies have armed people.

In the UK, no "bodyguards" are authorised to carry. The only ones who can "carry" on the UK streets are Authorised police officers, MI5 & 6 and military personal deployed on specific roles (British forces are not routinely armed away from their bases in the UK)

There was talk a few years back of an armed Customs and Excise Unit - some of their guys trained with us at Gravesend, but as far as I know none were every deployed "Armed"

A few years ago I used to meet up with a chap with an Irish accent, we got chatting one day and he expained the different dialects by area, religion and even by road both sides of the border, he could mimic any and all of them. He carried a licenced 9mm at all times. It would have been late 90's from memory. This was post Dunblane and he was most certainly a civvie at that point. One of those odd types that the law made an exception for.

I can only guess at his background but he was a very level headed and pleasant chap to talk to.
