Re: Major FAC renewal Hold-ups...?
How about this one.... It might take eight months for a variation I've requested, but as that tie frame will coincide with my renewal, it could very well be over a year for the whole process!
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

It's unsustainable. Unrealistic and a shambles. What are they playing at :(

It does seem a bit of a moveable feast to be fair. If you are paying for a 5 year license...Polchraine wrote:The Government website https://www.gov.uk/shotgun-and-firearm-certificates actually says: "A certificate usually lasts 5 years from the date it was issued or renewed." So, if they fail to renew on time, then it should be from the date it it re-issued.Maggot wrote:
I questioned an FLD colleague regarding the spreading the load suggestion. His answer was nice idea but they have to issue rigidly on the date of original issue, so I guess having to issue a sec7 is an emergency cock up thing and that the license will run from the original date regardless. Statute apparently
I suspect what he actually meant was they could not change the issue date out of hand

Another thought on this:
What about when someone decides to move from separate date to a pair of co-terminus certificates? One will have the expiry date "changed" even if it is a surrender and re-issue.

Surrey: One-for-one arrived after 7 working days.morph007 wrote:That seems slow for Surrey, I've had two variations since December and each one took less then a week from posting the form to receiving the new cert.rox wrote:Yesterday Surrey quoted 2 to 3 weeks for a variation.
A few weeks ago they quoted 2 to 3 weeks (from visit) for a grant. It arrived between 2 and 3 weeks later.
