It was before my time, so I don't have an emotional response to your question. All I can really say is, it's a shame one person's actions can affect the liberties of so many.
I was not looking for an emotional response, its a yes or no question.

A mere 705,000 people (of the total UK population) signed a petition that helped to get handguns banned. Democracy, right?... wtf

I think I must have read out-of-date information the last time I read about it, it looks like the ban was lifted in 2005 apart from files 1-4.

And where was our petetion ?? Democracy ??? The ban on handguns petition was signed by ill informed members of the public who were emotionally 'blackmailed' by the snow drop campaign !!
So if tomorrow the public launch a petetion to ban all firearms from cillivian ownership (don't think this can't happen ) you would be ok with that ?

This hysterical crap over handguns by the public and by some shooters is stupid ! Handguns are not problem in Europe or in other parts of the UK

I think you've misinterpreted the above. He meant that 705,000 people out of 65,000,000* is a tiny percentage and not 'democratic'.

*or whatever the number was in 1996

Remember, there were only 60K of us that owned and shot pistols. Even other "shooters" we're prepared to see us sacrificed if it prolonged them. The CPSA actually supported the ban to a certain degree. And despite Pistol AD being a major event and that Busley hosted the IPSC World Shoot X practical pistol championships, the NRA were, well, like warm....

And even now, there are active shooters, some who post here, would not support a reintroduction of pistol shooting.

But this thread digresses...
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!
