Re: Labour declares war on the shooting sports

When I was University student I used to work as a free-lance sport journalist (pigiste) for the 2nd largest French newspaper. I covered many various sports. I had the chance to cover some shooting events (mainly clays). In retrospect, I suspect many readers could have been forgiven for thinking my articles had been written by some sort of US-NRA gun nuts member. Maybe different times they were approved by my managing editor .

kukkuk kukkuk kukkuk troutslapping troutslapping troutslapping

Oh dear froggy, as an NRA (USA) member and Instructor I do find that litttle comment from you very nasty, insulting and totally uncalled for - I think our US friends might feel that way too! Why decry other shooting enthusiasts who have more fun that we do????

If the UK NRA were as good as the US one this thread would not exist mate! :55:

I don't think its any thing to do with the NRA I think its more to do with the Government.
In the UK if they decide to take all our toys away they will get taken away regardless of what the NRA as to do with it. So enjoy it while you can

Its a different ball game in the USA. I for one think there gun laws licencing could probably benefit from a coat of looking at.

 See now Troll, it just shows how much you know about firearm ownership in the US. You can think what you want old son because we don't have licensing like the UK. We don't want it either because you only have to look to places such as the UK to see the results of firearms licensing. So hey as you say, enjoy it while you can usflag.gif

P.S. You might want to take some of your own advice and stop banging on about some thing you know nothing about.

The belief that there are approximately 20,000 gun-control laws in the
United States has become received wisdom. The figure is cited by
advo-cates, scholars, and the media with surprising regularity—
an electronic newspaper search yielded more than 200 uses of the figure in
the last five years alone
Maybe not 20,000 but as near as makes no difference, so just what laws exactly should be looked at????????? kukkuk

It matters not a jot what you think of journalists. Labour attacks shooting because it thinks that is what the people want. It does that because it is a slave to the tabloids. They are written by journalists. So. If you want to keep shooting, get the journos on side. End of.

Journalists and politicians, the only way you will get them on side is with bribery.

A just and reasoned argument cuts no ice with them.

That is actually true of all politicians, but what makes the issue of private gun ownership different is that, as in all other countries with similar political parties, Labour, and especially Lib-Dems & the Greens are also acting like magnets for the legions of pacifists (*) who are instinctively gun haters both in private & public hands and often opponent of blood sports. As such, those parties tend to have to wield to pressure coming from both the public at large and their own ranks.

(*) which I fundamentally don't mind
