Current cast boolit thinking says that cast boolits shoot better when the barrel has no copper fouling in it, so when shooting cast all cooper fouling should be removed first.

However each barrel is different and in a lot of my rifles you can switch 'tween both OK, others needs to absolutely copper free.

So it is test and try with with your rfile.

I am no fan of copper fouling though which is one of the many reasons why I shoot cast.

I have a 45-120 that I shoot with black powder (as it should be!) and when I got it I loaded up some gas checked 500g lead bullets , it wouldn't shoot for toffee and I thought i'd brought a pup ! then some one suggested paper patching the bullets which I researched and while it may have solved the problem my life is too short to paper patch bullets! anyway as a last ditch attempt I tried some jacketed bullets directly on top of a case full of black and hey presto a buffalo comp winner !

We're struggling, oomans, struggling. Given the lack of stock of brass, primers and bullets in the shops, these rounds might end up being made from sticky back plastic and old toilet rolls rather than choice components from leading suppliers !

Can't you get the guys at work to knock you something up Badger, could be a good little earner

I know of 40 rounds of Rem 140g expanding in stock if you can have it, then you could just yank the bullets and reload.
They even have the 7.64 Brenneke brass in stock!

7mm bullets should be available everywhere! My local shop has a selection on the shelf, as with large rifle magnum primers....

Yes, ooman. Most things are available somewhere, but no-one seems to have everything we want. We had hoped to be able to get all we needed from a single source, or two at most.

Right oomans, our plans are now almost complete. We're thinking that for our re-loading kit, the RCBS Rockchucker Supreme Master kit seems a good start, and we'll then save our pennies up and go for a RCBS Chargemaster. Christel demonstrated hers to us yesterday and it does seem both accurate and reliable. A set of Lee dies and some PRVI brass should be good, and we have some Sierra 175 gn bullets heading our way too.
